Graduate Resident Fellow

Born and raised in India, Himani completed her bachelor’s and master’s of technology at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay). Currently, she is in the final stages of her Ph.D. program as a fifth-year candidate at Cornell’s Sibley School
of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Her research focuses on tackling unsolved problems in the field of robotics, particularly focusing on developing robust control algorithms for swarm robots. Her aim is to enable these robots to accomplish complex tasks efficiently despite limited information and individual capabilities. Additionally, Himani collaborates with a team to synthesize autonomous micron-scale morphing robots that can encapsulate biological systems. These innovative robots have the potential to be injected into patients and halt tumor growth in situations where surgery is not a viable option.

Outside of her academic pursuits, Himani finds joy in running or hiking amidst nature’s splendor. She also nurtures a love for reading and enthusiastically engages in discussions on human psychology, philosophy, and science.
