Daniel is a 2’nd year PhD student in the department of Biomedical Engineering (home department Biochemistry). His research focuses on developing new diagnostics and tools for infectious and immune-related diseases. Daniel is from Davis, California where he went to undergrad for Animal Biology. Some of his past research endeavors include: lettuce fungal resistance, fox conservation through genetic modeling, molecular diagnostics for new fly species and a grass-roots effort to save the burrowing owls!

Outside of research Daniel enjoys adventuring in nature and falling down hills. He also has 6 years of experience playing trumpet in a mariachi band and can be found often playing with friends around Ithaca or for the cows on campus.
